Gibson acoustic guitars are manufactured by the Gibson Guitar Corporation. This company is located in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition to acoustic options, it also provides many electric varieties. Drums, pianos, and accessories items are also created.

Before ever making Gibson acoustic guitars, the founder, Orville Gibson, was making mandolins. He did this during the late 1890s in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After this, he invented the first archtop guitars. This was after being inspired by the carved and arched tops of violins.

Flattop Gibson acoustic guitars were being made by the 1930s. By the same time, the first hollow-body electric guitars that were commercially available were also being produced by the company. The company was also responsible for the first solid-body style in the 1950s. In many different ways, the Gibson Guitar Corporation was a pioneer of guitar design for the first half of the twentieth century.
