Electronic drum set

Electronic drum setAn electronic drum set has its sound generated by an electronic waveform. This is in opposition to an acoustic vibration. The first use of such options was attributed to The Moody Blues in the early 1970s.

The way in which an electronic drum set works is quite technical. First, when the drum is struck, a voltage charge is triggered. This happens in what is known as the piezo (embedded piezoelectric transducer) or the FSR (force sensitive resistor.)

This signal is then sent to the "drum brain" of the electronic drum set. It gets there through either TS or TRS cables. Once there, it is translated into digital waveforms. These create the sound that is associated with that particular trigger pad.
