Classical guitar

Classical guitarCommonly called the Spanish guitar, the classical guitar is a cousin of the acoustic guitar. It has six strings, and produces sound by same means as an acoustic. However, there are some differences as well.

Unlike an acoustic, the classical guitar uses nylon strings rather than steel. These strings produce a much warmer tone, giving the instrument its signature sound. Due to the wider neck on a classical, the strings are space slightly farther apart as well.

A classical guitar also uses a smaller body than does an acoustic. This makes it easier to rest the instrument on the leg of the performer, as is the traditional method of playing. The necks are often slightly shorter as well.
