Learning the bass is a great introduction to musical instruments. The acoustic bass guitar is more simple and easier to learn than a guitar. Most basses have four strings allowing the musician to become easily familiar with the instrument quickly.

While most acoustic bass guitars have four strings there are some five and six string models that allow the musician to take part in various styles. The bass can be fretted or fretless. Since acoustic bass guitars can be difficult to hear most have a pickup on them.

The acoustic bass guitars were inspired by the large Mexican guitars used in mariachi bands called the guitarron. Beginner models can be bought for around two hundred dollars and are good for when the musician is just learning. For performances a top line model should be used and can be bought for around seven hundred dollars.

Many acoustic guitars look alike but the differences are subtle and will make a huge difference in the quality and sound of the instrument. Before purchasing a bass guitar it’s important to know which style of music will be played on the instrument and how often will it get used.
